چکیده
Chick embryo heart cells were used in coverslip cultures. The medium consisted of: Chick embryo extract 15% Phenol red solution (.04%) 7% Tyrode solution 28% Chicken plasma 50% Cultures were incubated for 72 hours at 37°C. The amount of inhibition of growth was determined from comparisons of the areas of growth and of the mitotic indexes. Many of the compounds were synthesized in this Laboratory by Doctors Francis B. Cramer, Francis E. Reinhart, and H. A. Rutter. The source is indicated by the initials of the individual followed by (BRF).

Effect of Adenosine Agonists on the Proliferation and Differentiation of Chick Embryo Fibroblasts in Three Dimensional Reconstituted Tissue Constructs
Previous studies indicate that organ fibroblasts play an important role in wound healing, collagen production, remodeling processes and pathogenesis of progressive heart, lung, renal and hepatic fibrotic diseases. Several studies suggest a possible inhibitory role for adenosine in the regulation of fibroblast proliferation. The effect of adenosine A2 agonists on proliferation and differentiatio...
متن کاملA Chick Embryo in-Vitro Model of Knee Morphogenesis
Background: In this feasibility study, a mechanically loaded in-vitro tissue culture model of joint morphogenesis using the isolated lower extremity of the 8 day old chick embryo was developed to assess the effects of mechanical loading on joint morphogenesis. Methods: The developed in-vitro system allows controlled flexion and extension of the chick embryonic knee with a range of motion of ...
متن کاملThe arginine requirement of tissue cultures. I. Interrelationships between arginine and related compounds.
The recent development of synthetic (1, 2) and semisynthetic (3) media that support the survival and propagation of mammalian tissue cultures has made it possible to determine the specific amino acid requirements of many cell lines. A remarkably similar pattern of essential and nonessential amino acids has been found for chick embryonic heart fibroblasts (4), Strain L cells (3), HeLa cells (5))...
متن کاملCyclosporine Effects on Chick Limb Bud Mesenchyme and DNA Content
Background: Cyclosporine A (CsA) is a powerful immunosuppressive agent, which is used for the prevention of allograft rejection and for the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Many transplant recipients must take this medicine for the rest of their lives. Females in reproductive age group on prolonged CsA therapy have legitimate concerns about drug effects on pregnancy. Objective: To explore Cs...
متن کاملChanges in Glucose Oxidation during Growth of Embryonic Heart Cells in Culture
A rapid and convenient method has been utilized to investigate glucose oxidation during growth of chick embryo heart cells in tissue culture. Primary isolates of chick embryo heart cells showed exponential growth when plated at low densities and exhibited density-inhibited growth as cultures became confluent. The density-dependent growth inhibition of chick embryo heart cells is associated with...
